AGM batteries suspend the electrolyte within a glass mat layer meaning that there is no liquid to spill out, so they can quite safely be mounted on the side without fear of spillage. they are vented but if you keep overcharging them in a UPS when they should have been changed for new ones then they could possibly warp slightly. so if your machine requires new batteries get them sooner rather than later else you may have trouble getting them out of the case and of course if the batteries are not doing the job they are meant to do you run the risk of not having full protection for your computer equipment.
