When your order is delivered, your new batteries will be almost fully charged, but you should still fully charge them before first use. If it's going into a device that is always connected to the mains, like a battery backup for a monitoring or alarm system, you can skip this step, as it will handle it for you. It shouldn't take long, just until the charger light indicates it's ready. if really in doubt overnight will be more than enough but it's doubtful you would need to leave it on the charger that long, you may well be impatient and use the equipment without charging but it's worth waiting until its fully charged and will help extend overall life expectancy.
It's not always apparent, but it will take up to 10 charges, combined with use in your chosen device, before a full-capacity charge can be achieved. This is just a normal part of the conditioning process. When you have finished using your portable devices, put the batteries back on charge. You do not want to allow them to sit in a partially discharged state. We have heard of people trying to extend battery life by running them down; fully discharging your new batteries will only shorten their overall lifespan and cause them to need changing earlier. This will cost you money in the long run. If it turns out there are periods when the equipment is not being used regularly, ensure the batteries are fully charged before any downtime and topped up every 4 weeks, but do not leave them on the charger for more than 24 hours.
