The batteries ordered will be delivered with a very good charge in them almost full, but even so you should still charge before using for the first time, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains with its own built in charging circuit like a monitor or maybe a alarm system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, the charger will have LED lights which will indicate whether it is still charging or not, you only need to charge them until they are ready, probably not very long at all, you may well be impatient and want to use the equipment without charging for the first time but it's worth waiting until its fully charged and will help extend the overall life expectancy
These batteries are deep cycle capable, which is essential in this type of application, the VRLA and AGM cells will not leak as the acid is combined within a glass matting so no liquid, not-hazardous so suitable for travelling, there is no maintenance required, except of course charging which we have covered on this page.
