The batteries will be almost fully charged when you receive them, but you should still finish a charge before the first use. The only time you don't need to do this is if it's going into something with its always-connected power supply, like a UPS system, which will handle charging for you. Once the battery or batteries have been installed into this system, you must allow the UPS system to reset the batteries.
You will probably not notice, but it may take several charges and discharges within the device for it to be able to receive total capacity. This is normal. Maintenance is essential, like a UPS, if not connected with its own internal power supply. Firstly, charge when it arrives before the first use and recharges after every use, never leaving in a discharged state. If six weeks pass and the battery hasn’t been used, a top-up charge will keep the cells fresh.
