The battery is AGM and sealed. It will have quite a bit of charge, probably enough energy to start a regular working engine, but you should charge it when it arrives. The first charge after starting will also be an important one, so once this has been achieved, ensure that you go for a long ride on your bike, at least thirty minutes, to allow the cells to regenerate the energy lost. If this is not possible, ensure it goes on a charger afterwards.

In general use, the battery will last a long time if it's used every day. It's when it is used little that it reduces life span. All batteries will slowly drain down. It's possible this could be exacerbated by an alarm or even a tiny short on a cable. If you are not using the battery much, maybe you only use it in the summer months. Our best advice would be to remove it and charge it every six weeks. But do not leave it on a charger for more than twenty-four hours. That way, you can remove the possibility of it slowly draining energy and still have a working battery the following season. While optimisers are better than nothing, they are a compromise, and you are reliant on them doing the job they were purchased for. Most will not, so we do not recommend them.
