Installing the battery on a Honda VT125 Shadow is very simple. First, please ensure that there is no power running through the bike, and turn off the ignition.
To begin, gather up some essential tools like a spanner, screwdriver and a socket set and proceed to take the seat off (a couple of bolts typically need an Allen key for this, they are located at the rear of the seat). Once this has been completed, you should see some wires and your battery, unplug the cables connected to your battery and replace them with your new battery. Plug the same cables back into the correct connection, and ensure it is secure, as bumps on the road may move the battery about and disconnect the cables. Lastly, the seat goes back on, and the bolts are returned.
A battery information sheet will arrive with the battery (also on our website so you can read before), it is essential to read this and take good care of your battery.
If you use your Honda Shadow VT125 motorbike all year, then you are probably looking after your battery in the best way when left for long periods without use. If that is the case and you are not using it throughout the winter, the best advise would be to take it off the bike and charge it every eight weeks, do not leave on the charger for more than twenty-four hours, if this is not possible then ensure it is charged on the bike for the same periods, the only issue with it being left on the bike is that you may have something that is draining down the battery, maybe a short or an alarm.
