The handset or microphone that is put near the baby (within 1.5 metres) normally will take standard 4 AA batteries, if you do not have any around the house then it must be your first child, be aware that will change as they get older, we have included a link to them further down the page.
This pack is for the parent unit which is rechargeable H-AA800BX4, after fitting keep the parent unit off and charge for 16 hours, this will help condition the battery for future use, after the first charge it will not matter if the unit is on or off for later charges, but if its plugged in twenty four hours a day seven days a week it will shorten the life quicker than running down occasionally, once a week would be ideal.
In time the monitor will be put in a draw somewhere, if its not being used we would recommend removing the AA batteries from the baby handset and recharging the parent handset every 8-weeks to keep the battery cells fresh just in case you want to use it again in the future, now you have a child you will need every penny you have so no point in throwing away a good battery because you didn't look after it, now all you have to worry about is all the sleepless nights you will have for the next 25 years (and counting) enjoy.
