The expected life of batteries in this application is between 3-5 years in normal conditions. This can vary with load; the biggest issue can be heat. If they are sited in a temperature-controlled, well-ventilated communications room, this will not be an issue. But they're not sited in a corner of a room or under a desk with paperwork piled on top.
