Here's information to help you purchase replacement batteries for the APC RBC26 APCRBC26. The system and batteries pass the mains electricity to provide a clean supply at the other end. They are 12V cells, and this page includes 8 x 12V batteries. These are VRLA with AGM technology (more information about the chemistry is below).
Installing the batteries is not difficult and is well within the capabilities of most people; refer to your manual for instructions. The ones we send to you will be almost fully charged, but the UPS will still complete a service charge upon installation. It goes without saying that until this is finished, you will not have the benefit of full runtime protection. You can install and go, but it's best to run the system without a load so it can properly reset.
It's fair to expect batteries to last between two and five years in this UPS. The usage however will determine this, the batteries will get hot in general use, the hotter they get the shorter the life so good ventilation is paramount, to get a long battery life you should try to keep the load below 40%, its capable much more but the pay off will be battery life.
The battery type is AGM or absorbed glass mat construction, they are also valve regulated, they means they can be used in tower or rack mounted UPS systems without the fear of any leakage, they will require no maintenance throughout their entire life span and are not-hazardous so safe for use in busy data centres and of course the home office.
