The batteries you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but you should still charge them before first use. If it's going into a device that is always connected to the mains, like a battery backup for a monitoring or alarm system, then you can skip this step, as it will do it for you.
If you are a normal user, you will probably not even notice it, but it can take up to 10 charges and associated use on your device before it can accept a full-capacity charge. This is all part of the conditioning process and quite normal. When you have finished using your portable devices, put the batteries back on charge. You do not want to allow them to sit in a partially discharged state. Do not attempt to deliberately discharge the batteries; it will not rejuvenate them.
These 6-volt batteries are AGM (absorbed glass mat) and VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid); they are deep-cycle and non-hazardous, making them suitable for use indoors or in portable devices. They will not leak; all features make them suitable for this kind of application. They, of course, do not require any maintenance.
Ensure that you order the right battery by carefully checking the information. A lot of them are very similar, so it can be easy to make a mistake. If in doubt, check the old battery: its dimensions and anything written on its side. We have included the physical size so you can double-check.
