When your order is delivered, your new batteries will be almost fully charged, but you still need to charge them fully before first use. You wouldn't need to do this if it were going into something like a UPS or alarm system, as it has its own charging circuit. It will do the job for you. The charger has LED lights that indicate whether it is still charging; you only need to charge them until they are ready.

Once you have used your equipment, put the batteries back on charge. Do not let them sit in a partially discharged state for any longer than absolutely necessary. Do not attempt to discharge the batteries fully; this can reduce lifespan quite drastically. Hence, cost you money in the long run. There may be protracted periods where the batteries are not being used; if this is the case, ensure they are fully charged first, then top up every four weeks, but do not leave them on a charger for more than four weeks.

These batteries require no general maintenance and no fluid top-ups, as they are AGM and VRLA with deep-cycle properties; they are also non-hazardous, so they are safe to use in the home or in portable equipment.
