The batteries you receive from us will be almost fully charged. But you will still have to charge them before first use. The charger has LED lights that indicate whether it is still charging. You only need to charge them until they are ready; it probably will not take very long. You may want to fit them and use the equipment right away, but don't skip this first step; it's worth waiting until the first charge is complete, and it might contribute to overall lifespan.
Unless you are a very prolific user, you probably won't even notice that it can take several charge-and-use cycles before your equipment reaches full capacity. This is all part of the conditioning process and is expected. You should fully charge your batteries as soon as you can after every use. Do not leave them sitting in a semi-discharged state for any period unless necessary. Never try to fully discharge the batteries. With this type of technology, it will only shorten their life. If, for any unforeseen reason, there is an extended period when you are not using the batteries, make sure they are fully charged first. Then recharge every four weeks, but do not leave them on the charger for more than 24 hours.
These batteries are deep-cycle capable, which is essential for this type of application. VRLA and AGM cells do not leak and are non-hazardous, so they are suitable for travelling; no maintenance is required, except charging, which we have covered on this page for both VRLA and AGM.
Check the code on your mobility equipment carefully to ensure you order the correct battery set, as many have very similar code names. If in doubt, check the battery dimensions and note anything written on the side. The battery sizes are also specified below so you can confirm. These batteries are made mainly of lead, which is easy to recycle; more information about recycling can be found at the foot of this page.
