After you unpack your new battery order from us, you'll notice they have a good charge. Regardless, you should still fully charge them before first use; the only time you don't need to is if they're going into something with its own always-connected power supply. For example, an alarm system, as it will charge them for you; just charge them until your charger LED lights indicate they are ready, and it probably won't take long. Do not just fit them and roll without this initial charge; it will help extend overall battery life.
These batteries are deep cycle capable, which is essential in this type of application. The VRLA and AGM cells will not leak and are not hazardous, so they are suitable for travelling. No maintenance is required, except, of course, charging, which we cover on this page for both VRLA and AGM.
