The new batteries that you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but the system will still need to complete a service charge upon installation. With this in mind, the system cannot provide full runtime protection while it completes this process. It may not be convenient, but it's best to run the system without any load to start.
It's fair to expect the batteries to last between two and five years in this UPS. This will depend heavily on use and how the system is stored. Good ventilation is always important. If it's in an office, do not use it as a bookshelf. The higher the load, the harder it works, which directly affects battery life; if you can, try to keep it below 40%.
These are valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries and will not leak, so you can install them in tower or rack systems, as they can be fitted on their side. Both AGM and VRLA are non-hazardous, so they're safe for busy data centres as well as the home office, of course.
