The MXR1000's drive system runs on 36V, produced by wiring these three 12V cells together in series inside the bike's battery box. Together, they feed the speed controller and hub motor that give the bike its power and its rated range, so all three need to be in good, matched condition for the bike to perform as it should.
Electric dirt bikes like this tend to sit unused over winter or whenever the weather keeps kids indoors, and a lead-acid pack left flat through a long lay-up loses capacity it won't fully get back. Give the batteries a full charge before putting the bike away for any length of time, and top them up every few weeks during storage rather than leaving them discharged until the next ride.
A pack on its way out usually shows up in the ride itself before it fails outright: noticeably shorter run time per charge, the bike feeling gutless or slow to pick up speed — especially with a heavier or older rider aboard — or a charger that never seems to click over to a finished, fully-charged state. Any of these are worth checking against the battery pack before assuming it's a motor or controller fault.
