The batteries that you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but the system will still need to complete a service charge after installation. This means that until it finishes this operation, you will not have full backup runtime protection. You'll probably want to install it and leave it connected to your devices, but it's best to run it without a load so it can properly reset.
You will find that some financial houses will change the batteries every year regardless. Still, you can expect a lifespan of between 2-5 years. This will, of course, vary from user to user and depend on general use; ensure there is plenty of ventilation around the device. Do not cover the vents or place it next to a radiator. Do not use it as a bookshelf. If the batteries get too hot all the time, it will shorten the lifespan. Try to keep the constant load below 40%; while it may well be capable of much more, it will shorten the battery life, so it's a balancing act.
These are valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries and will not leak, so you can install them in either tower or rack systems, as they can be fitted on their side. Both AGM and VRLA are non-hazardous, so they are safe for busy data centres, medical backup, and the home office.
Please double-check the code on your system to make sure you order the right battery set. So many of the codes are very similar, so it's easy to make a mistake. If you're still unsure, check the batteries you already have; the dimensions will help prevent issues, and they are also listed on the page. The batteries are made mainly from lead and are recyclable; more information on recycling is at the foot of this page.
