This offer includes two batteries, with selectable upgrades available. Please read the notes below.
Upgrading your Drive Ambassador batteries, 50Ah AGM or 70ah GEL
The standard recommended batteries for the Ambassador scooter are a pair of twelve-volt fifty-ampere AGM batteries, and this page offers exactly that. Drive-Medical also suggests that the Ambassador mobility scooter can take larger GEL 70Ah (73.6Ah) batteries. These are physically larger, so if you are unsure whether your scooter is set up to take them, we suggest you check under your seat before ordering to confirm they will fit. The dimensions of the larger batteries are L: 259 mm x W: 169 mm x H: 209 mm. You can also find a link on the Alternatives tab for more detailed information.
Looking after your new Drive Ambassador batteries
These sealed lead AGM batteries are non-hazardous, non-spillable, and recyclable. Your batteries should be nearly fully charged when they arrive, but battery care is critical; fully charge them before first use. Charging the batteries after each use is a good habit that will keep them in good shape for as long as possible. If eight weeks have passed and the batteries have not been used, please charge them completely. Never charge the batteries for more than 24 hours because this can cause serious damage.
Installation and user guide
The manual has plenty of information on maintaining the whole mobility scooter, not just the batteries. This information is necessary for a user or owner of a Drive Ambassador mobility scooter, so please feel free to download, keep, and print it for future reference. This manual outlines how to install the new batteries, so if you need detailed instructions, please refer to it; however, it is not a difficult job. You can access them by lifting the seat and removing the plastic cowling. If you're unsure how the terminals are connected, please take a photo before removing them so you have something to refer back to.
