When you receive your order from us, the batteries will be almost fully charged, but you will still need to complete a full charge before first use. The only time you do not need to do this is if it's going into something with its own always-connected power supply. For example, an alarm system will do the job of charging for you. You do not need to leave it on for hours on end; it will probably not take very long at all, depending on the charger, before it indicates it has finished. Do not miss out on this important first step; it will help set them up and possibly extend their overall life expectancy.
It will probably not even be apparent, but it will take a few charges and some use on your device before the battery can reach full capacity. This is quite normal. Each time you use your battery in a more portable device, you should put it back on charge as soon as you can; do not leave it sitting in a semi-discharged state for any longer than necessary. You cannot rejuvenate this kind of battery by running it down. Going out of your way to fully discharge the batteries will reduce their lifespan, so do not do it. There may well be extended periods when the batteries are not being actively used; if so, ensure they are fully charged beforehand and then recharged every 4 to 6 weeks, but do not leave them on the charger for more than 24 hours at a time.
These batteries require no general maintenance or fluid top-ups, as they are AGM and VRLA, of course, with deep-cycle properties required for this type of application. They are also non-hazardous, so they are safe to use in the home or in portable devices.
