When your order is delivered the batteries will be almost fully charged, but regardless of this you should still complete a charge them before first use, the only time you do not need to do this is if it's going into something with its own always connected power supply, for example a home or commercial alarm system, as this will do the job of charging for you, you do not need to leave it on for hours on end, it will probably not take very long at all depending on the charger, just until it has finished, you may well just want to fit them and use the equipment, but do not miss this first step if needed, it's worth waiting until the first charge has completed and it may well contribute to over life span
it may well take a number of charges and alternating use in your equipment for the battery to condition properly and be able to take and hold a full capacity charge, this is quite normal, letting the batteries sit in a discharged state, even partially is not a good idea, so if being used in a portable device as soon as you have used them put them back on charge, never try to discharge the batteries all the way down, doing so with this type of battery will only reduce the life span and cost you money in the long run, there may be many reasons for the equipment not be used on a regular basis, if there are protracted periods where this is the case then ensure the batteries are charged before hand and then topped up every 4-weeks but do not leave on a charger for more than 24-hours at a time
These 12v batteries are valve regulated and AGM or absorbed glass mat, not need for any liquid as the acid is held within the glass mat, this means they will not spill and not-hazardous so safe for use around the home and or portable equipment, they are deep cycle which would be required in this sort of application
