The Electric-Mobility Prestige Explorer-8 scooter is a 4/8mile per hour version and has all the features and benefits one would expect from a scooter. It has a full lighting kit and an emergency brake, captains swivel seat, moveable armrests, hazard lights and some even have a tow bar attached. As standard, it comes with a pair of 12-volt 55-amp hour batteries which this offer is for, if you are unsure we have detailed the physical size of them below for your convenience. The batteries are valve-regulated with absorbed glass mat technology, which means they will not spill even if laid on the side, as is required for a travel type scooter. They are also non-hazardous and safe for public transportation as well as airlines, but you should confirm this when booking a flight.

Looking after AGM mobility batteries
The batteries are maintenance-free and thus do not need to be charged on a daily basis; however, they do need to be charged. If possible, fully charge your new batteries before the first use, and even more importantly, after each use. Allowing them to be discharged to less than 20% capacity will go a long way toward allowing the battery to last a long time. If not in use, charge every four weeks to slow down the natural self-discharge.
Installation of Prestige Explorer-8 batteries
They are hidden beneath the seat and are shielded by a plastic shroud. It should be fairly simple to access them and swap them over however they are very heavy because of the lead content so take care when lifting. To access them you would need to move the seat, this is usually done by a lever nearby and that will allow you to remove the plastic cowling. Once inside you will see two batteries with two wires to each. We suggest taking a photo of the wires to ensure you are able to install the new pair correctly.
Recyclable
These sealed lead AGM batteries can be mounted on their side, making them (and your old ones) environmentally friendly and recyclable. Please take them to your local recycling centre when they have reached the end of their useful life so that they can be transformed into something new and continue on their green journey.
