When your order is delivered, your new batteries will be almost fully charged, but you should still fully charge them before first use. The only time you don't need to is if they're going into something with its own always-connected power supply. For example, an alarm system, as it will charge them for you. Charge time depends on your charger; just leave it on until it indicates it's finished. Don't skip this important first step. It will help set them up and possibly extend their overall life expectancy.
While most people won't notice, it will take a number of charges and corresponding use before the device reaches a full-capacity charge; this is a normal part of the conditioning process. When you use your portable devices, put the batteries back on charge. You do not want to allow them to sit in a partially discharged state; we have heard of people trying to extend battery life by running them down. Fully discharging your new batteries will reduce their overall lifespan, and they will need changing sooner; this will cost you money in the long run. There may well be extended periods where the batteries are not being actively used, if so ensure they are charged fully beforehand and then recharged every 4 to 6-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours at a time
These batteries require no general maintenance and no topping up with fluid, as they have none. They are AGM and VRLA, of course with deep cycle properties that would be required in this type of application, they are also non-hazardous, so safe to use in the home or in portable devices
