After placing you and receipt of your order you will note that the batteries will be almost fully charged when received, but you should still maintain a full charge before first use, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains with its own built in charging circuit like a monitor or maybe a alarm system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, just charge them until your charger LED lights indicate that they are ready, it will probably not take very long, you may well just want to fit them and use the equipment, but do try not miss this first step, if needed that is, it's worth waiting until the first charge has completed and it may well contribute to over life span
If you are a normal user then you will probably not even notice it but if it's being used in a portable device it can take up to ten charges and associated use in your equipment before its capable of accepting a full capacity charge, this is all part of the conditioning process and quite normal, if being used in a portable piece of equipment then as soon as you after each use put them back on charge, do not allow them to sit in a discharged state, never go out of your way to deliberately discharge the batteries, it will not rejuvenate them, with this type of technology it will only mean a shorter life, it is important to keep a charge in the batteries for long life, so if there is any period of time where they are not being used then charge before hand and top this up every four weeks but do not leave on a charger for more than 24-hours
These 6-volt batteries are sealed lead valve regulated or VRLA and further benefit from using AGM technology, this means they will not spill so can be used indoors or in portable equipment without fear of leakage, capable of deep cycling as would be essential in this type of application, they are not hazardous
We have provided the information here purely as a guide, it would be wise to check the code carefully as so many of them are pretty similar so it's easy to make a mistake, you will also find we have listed the relevant dimensions so you can make sure you are ordering the correct one, looking at your old power pack and taking note of the dimensions and anything that may be printed on the side is probably the best thing to do, as these 6-volt 3.2ah batteries are manufactured mainly from lead they are recyclable, this is of course environmentally friendly, more information about recycling can be found on a link at the foot of this page
