After you have made and unpacked your new battery from us you will note that they will have a good charge in them, regardless of this you should still complete a full maintenance charge before first use, if it's going into a device that is always connected to the mains and has its own charging circuit like a battery backup for monitoring or alarm system then you can miss this step as it will do it for you, it shouldn't take long as its almost fully charged already, just until the charger lights indicates its ready, if really in doubt overnight will be more than enough but it's doubtful you would need to leave it on the charger that long, do not just fit them without this initial charge, it will not take long anyway, it will not take long as it is almost fully charged anyway and it may help to extend the battery life overall
Unless you are a very extended user you will probably not even notice that it can take a number of charge and use in your equipment before a full capacity charge is achieved, this is all part of the conditioning process and quite normal, if being used in a portable piece of equipment then as soon as you after each use put them back on charge, do not allow them to sit in a discharged state, you should never deliberately go out of your way to try fully discharge the batteries, we are often asked will this extend the life but no this will only reduce its life span and cost you money in the long run, there may well be extended periods where the batteries are not being actively used, if so ensure they are charged fully beforehand and then recharged every 4 to 6-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours at a time
These are 6-volt valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries and will not leak, sealed lead acid, the acid is held within a glass mattering and will not leak, no maintenance is required, they are both AGM and VRLA, of course they are the required deep cycle kind and they are not-hazardous so safe for use in portable equipment, medical and indoors
