The Speedrite S500 is a solar-powered fence energiser with a battery to gently remind livestock to maintain a boundary. It is quoted as capable of powering up to 5 km of perimeter. While the solar panel helps keep the battery charged, it will still need replacing eventually, and you should make a point of checking periodically that it does not require replacement, as it works very hard and will not last forever.
If you will not be using the equipment for long periods, charge the battery before putting it away, and do so every six weeks to keep the cells in good order.
