The new batteries we dispatch to you will be almost fully charged, but the system will still need to complete a service charge after installation; this means that until it's finished, you will not have full backup runtime. If you have the opportunity, and you are doing it on a weekend, it's best to run the system without a load at first so it can properly reset to the new energy level; while not essential and unlikely in busy data centres, it is recommended.
Battery life expectancy is between 2-5 years in this UPS; however, how it's used will determine this. Adequate ventilation is important; the batteries are continuously used, and the hotter they get, the shorter their lifespan. The higher the load, the harder it's working, which directly relates to battery life; if you can, try to keep it below 40%.
The battery type is AGM (absorbed glass mat) construction; it's also valve-regulated, meaning it can be used in tower- or rack-mounted UPS systems without fear of leakage. They will require no maintenance throughout their entire lifespan and are non-hazardous, so they are safe for use in busy data centres and, of course, the home office.
