The Comac L20 B is a walk-behind scrubber dryer that’s built for everyday floor care in smaller rooms and corridors. It used a pair of 12v GEL lead acid batteries as its power source and when the time comes to replace them, it will be very noticeable as the machine will start to be very sluggish and not last as long as it used to. GEL batteries are sealed and valve-regulated, so there’s no topping up with water and no removable caps to worry about, which keeps maintenance simple and reduces the chance of spills.

GEL technology locks the electrolyte in a gel matrix, which improves spill resistance and generally handles vibration well. The trade-off is that GEL batteries strongly prefer the correct charger settings; too much voltage or the wrong charge profile can shorten life, so it’s worth ensuring the onboard or external charger is set for GEL/VRLA.
To keep the pair healthy, recharge after each shift and don’t leave them sitting flat, ever. A full charge cycle and a cool, dry storage spot go a long way toward keeping your rechargeable battery set delivering reliable cleaning time. If for any reason four or five weeks pass without any use, it is better to top up with charge then rather than leave them on charge all that time.
