This pack contains eight batteries for the APC Smart-UPS 3000XL rack mountable UPS with a rack height of 3U, approximately 134mm, it will have the serial code of SU3000RMXL3U written either on the reverse or sometimes underneath, they are for the cartridge module for this 3000VA uninterruptible power supply.
The batteries are valve regulated, they are safe for use in either the tower or as rack mounted as they will not spill in this rack mountable system with a height of 3U, the expected life span in such a installation is between 3-5 years in normal conditions, this can be greatly reduced though without adequate ventilation so ensure your communications room is well vented.
In a ideal world your UPS should be sited in a dust free humidity and climate controlled communications rooms, if you have one of those then fantastic, if however you are in the real world then there are still much you can do to help prolong the life of your batteries, watch the load, do not allow it to be high, many devices when upgraded have larger more demanding power supplies to service, spread the load as best you can. Heat is probably the worst problem, pay attention to the vents, clear the dust that builds on a regular basis as it not only restricts the flow but builds on the fan surfaces reducing efficiency.
These batteries are non-hazardous, will not spill - can be mounted in rack mount or tower configurations without fear of spillage, sealed lead, VRLA, valve regulated sealed lead, AGM, absorbed glass mat construction, recyclable - please ensure that when these batteries have eventually fulfilled their task for you that they are directed to a recycle centre for processing into another product, more information on this may be found at the foot of this page
