You no doubt need a new battery pack to replace the RBC6 module you have installed. The LED light is probably flashing away trying your catch your attention and if that was not enough it's shouting at you with a very loud shrill. Well be fair, it's done a lot of work over the last couple of years, it does not just provide a battery backup if you have a power cut. It's working 24/7 protecting your valuable data from being corrupted by a power surge or even a lightning strike. Do not despair though at this price you need to add the item to the shopping cart straight away.
Replacing this battery pack yourself will save money on a call-out fee from an engineer. It is very easy and we would expect you to be able to complete the installation in approximately ten minutes, the only tool you will require is a screwdriver, we will outline the procedure below.
Firstly shut down and disconnect any machines connected to it, then turn off the UPS and remove the power source by unplugging it from the wall socket. You do not want any unpleasant shocks when you undo the case.
The front panel will have a couple of finger-sized slots towards the top on either side where you are supposed to be able to pull the cover off and slightly down. To be honest it's normally easier and safer on the fingernails to use the flat edge of a screwdriver to twist in the slot instead. once off it will be attached with a lead long enough for you to get out of the way, on top of the unit will be fine.
You will then be able to see the battery cover. it will have a couple of Phillips screws holding it on, or maybe plastic grommets. Whatever it has, remove them and pull down the door.
You can now see the batteries, there are two of them, the outer terminals will have leads connoting them to the UPS, study how it's connected, take a pic with your camera if you want as a reference. Undo the outer leads and pull out the batteries. Lay the new ones next to them line them up in the same way and swap over the lead that is still connected, then put them back in UPS and connect the other two leads, put the door and front panel back on and you are done, it is that easy.
The RBC6 or sometimes called the #6 module fits many units, some of which are listed here. the list will not be complete but if you know you have an APCRBC6 module in your uninterruptible power supply then this is the battery set for you.
