This set has two batteries for the APC Back-UPS PRO BP1400I uninterrupted power supply, which is a 900-watt 1400VA surge-protected system. Fitting is pretty straightforward. You can refer to your owner's manual for more information. You should shut down any equipment attached to it, then shut down the UPS and remove all cables, including the mains power lead and the wall socket. You can pull down and forward the front cover. You might need the assistance of a flat-bladed screwdriver to ease it off, as sometimes it can be a little stiff. You can then see the battery door. It is held in place by a couple of grommets or Phillips screws. Remove them and drop the door down, pull out the batteries, swap the leads onto the new ones and put them back together, maybe a five or ten-minute job.
We recommend powering up the UPS without any load to start with, just until the batteries register as fully charged. This will help the unit recognise that it has new batteries and reset properly.
These cells are valve-regulated, sealed VRLA and AGM. They will not spill and are non-hazardous. The expected life span of these devices is between three to five years. This can be affected by the system's temperature, lack of ventilation and overall constant load.
