There are many Smart-UPS 3000 models, so to confirm you should check the panel on the back of the UPS, in here it will have the model number SUA3000i. This confirms this is the correct battery pack.

Changing the batteries yourself is not a difficult job and by doing so you can save yourself a considerable amount of money. We will try to outline the simple procedure below, you will need minimum tools, perhaps a Phillips screwdriver and a pair of pliers.
Before you start to unpack pack the batteries you have received from us. There will be four batteries in total, they will combine to make two modules for your machine.
Shut down and equipment that your UPS is protecting, then shut down the UPS and disconnect all cables. Ensuring the power lead is removed from the mains power.
The front panel will pull off exposing the battery door held on normally by a few Phillips screws which can now be removed, dropping down the door will show the battery module, pull apart the connector plug and pull out the first module, careful as they are quite heavy, then do the same to the 2nd module.
Once you have them on your desk move the new batteries to form the same shape and way round, then just swap the leads over so they are the same. Some have a fuse at one end just do the same with that and replace the modules in the UPS in the reverse order, ensuring you plug both in as you go.
We recommend powering up the UPS without any load to start with to allow the new batteries to become fully charged.
This UPS system has an intelligent battery management system that helps to extend the life of the battery pack. The expected life of batteries in the system is 3-5 years depending on use. The APC SUA3000I battery management system also uses a temperature-controlled charging system to regulate the charging voltage.
There are four 12v batteries in this pack for the APC Smart-UPS 3000, and SUA3000I, they are sealed and valve regulated, suitable for this kind of application.
