This is an AGM type of battery, it needs no maintenance, but it does of course require charging. It will come out to you almost fully charged, but in an ideal world, you should always charge a rechargeable battery when it arrives. Would probably be wise to either recharge after starting for the first time or take it for a good ride to get the energy levels back up. If you ride your bike all year round at least a few times a week then you are already taking care of the battery.

If there will be long periods where it's not being used then we would suggest that you disconnect from the frame and recharge every eight weeks to keep the cells fresh. It will take several uses before the battery is capable of accepting a full capacity charge, this is a normal part of the conditioning that all batteries go through.
