Fitting is quite straightforward, they are used in a lot of APC systems so we will give you a brief outline which may vary a little for individual machines but will be relatively applicable overall.
The only tools you will require will be a Phillips screwdriver, maybe a flat screwdriver and a pair of pliers.
First thing is to ensure the system is shut down completely and the power cord removed unless you know that your system is hot-swap capable.
Then remove the front cover to show the battery door, this may be held on by Phillips screws, if remove them, you will see the connector which needs unplugging and remove the first module. Do the same for the second, remember that these packs are quite heavy so be careful. If you unpack the new batteries before starting it will give you a better idea of what to expect, the module you are pulling out has two batteries attached.
Once you have it on the desktop, put the new batteries alongside, you will note that the module is two batteries put together. Just swap over the cables from one to the other, there may also be a fuse section at one end, do the same with this and replace the modules in the UPS, the whole job should take you to know more than fifteen minutes on the outside.
Your old batteries should be recycled, they have a high lead content and in effect perfect for recycling and should not be disposed of in landfills, more information can be found on our recycle page.
