There is more that one version of Smart-UPS 3000 available, this battery pack is for the one that has SMT3000RMI2U or SMT3000RMI2U-NC written on the back, its a 2U rack mountable system with a LCD screen on the front or APC Smart-UPS 3000VA RM-2U-LCD 2700watt.

The battery cells are valve regulated lead acid and AGM, this means that they are safe for use in data communications suites as they will not leak, a battery used in the module must be sealed as its on its side whether used as a tower or rack mounted and these are, they are also not-hazardous, need no maintenance and hot swappable.
The expected life span of the batteries in this application is between three to five years, but this will be dependant on extremes of load and ventilation imposed upon it, the cells are recyclable, so when they eventually come to the end of their useful life please direct them to a recycle centre for processing, this makes them a very green and environmentally friendly product.
