If your battery needs replacing, it is probably not wise to delay; the price is very reasonable, and it's a relatively easy job to do yourself within a few minutes. It's simply a matter of opening the battery door on your ES-700 and swapping the two cables onto the new battery. More information is below on the subject. So, order now to continue protecting your valuable data. After all, you've put this protection in place; let it do its job. Apart from the annoying sound the Back-UPS makes, it can be a nuisance before you have a few coffees in the morning.
Changing the battery on this model is a straightforward process. First, ensure you have shut down any equipment attached to it and removed the plug sockets.
Then, power down the UPS unit itself, and remove the power lead from the wall socket.
If you turn the unit upside down, you will see a sliding door. There will be a small section to depress to unlock the sliding door. Once done, you can remove the battery from the UPS. Be gentle, though, as it's pretty heavy.
You will then see the old battery, and you can put the new one alongside it. The new one may have a couple of protective white plastic covers; if so, remove them, then swap the leads to the new ones. There are only two.
Put the new battery back into the UPS, ensure the cable is connected, then shut the door to make sure it clips into place.
We recommend powering up the UPS without a load first. This will give the new battery a chance to be fully charged and, in effect, reset itself. If you have the opportunity, consider leaving it like this overnight. You may find that it lasts much longer overall if you do this.

Maintaining the battery is unnecessary; it is sealed and safe to mount on its side. These desktop surge protection units can get very hot, and continuous heat combined with excessive load can shorten battery life. Try to give it some space so air can circulate around it, and perhaps upgrade to the 9ah version of the battery, as it is not much more and will probably help with the load.
