Charge the battery when you receive it from us, you will find that it will take between six and ten cycle of the battery before it is able to accept a full capacity charge, that is using the battery in your tool and charging it, this is part of the conditioning process and is normal. Thereafter keeping your battery in good order will be dependant on the way you use it, if you use your Black-and-Decker drill or other tool every week 52-weeks of the year then you will get a considerable amount of use from it and just probably need to continue using it and charging when needed. If however you only use it a few times year then you should charge it after every use and before you put the tool away, charge every six weeks and do not just leave on the charger for long periods, just charge overnight and remove from charger.
Try to store your battery in a cool dry place and once again a very important rule, if you are not using them charge every month or six weeks, it is very unusual that a Black-and-Decker replacement battery will get to the end of its life having been worn out, its more than likely that it hasn't been charged enough and nor more capable of receiving one because of neglect.
