Looking after your new battery is important. If you use your bike a few times a week all year round, that should be enough to keep it charged. If left, though, for more extended periods, the battery will slowly drain down, which will be worse during colder spells, so if you are not using it for the winter season, then take the battery off the bike, charge it and again every eight weeks and store off the floor in a dry frost-free space. If you leave it on the bike, you take the risk of a joint, damaged cable or, of course, the alarm system and immobiliser slowly running down the battery, which will shorten its life span.
