These batteries are valve regulated, the recommended fitment for this type of equipment, they also benefit from having advanced absorbed glass mat construction or AGM, this means they will not spill and can be mounted on their side, so can be used in tower of rack mount configurations, the expected life span of batteries in UPS systems is between 2-5 years, this can vary greatly though if you are asking too much of it, try to keep the output below 50% of the capacity of the UPS, less would be better, the other thing that can reduce life is poor ventilation around the unit, the batteries will get very hot in the normal course of use.
