The Platinum Curve Stairlift is a popular model that has been installed into many different buildings and houses throughout the UK. Ideal for most curved staircases as it is able to accommodate bends and landings while tightly hugging the staircase. Powered by a motor and supported by battery backup power it provides users with a smooth ride that continues even in the event of a mains failure.

Eventually you will need to change the batteries, thankfully it is a quick, easy and cheap job to do. The batteries required to power these, and many other stairlifts is a pair of sealed, non-hazardous, non-spillable, valve regulated lead acid (VRLA), absorbed glass matt (AGM) twelve volt batteries. Looking after your Platinum Curve batteries
The charging will be taken care of by the stairlift but if there comes a period of 4-weeks or so when its not in use, turn it on to allow some charge to flow into the batteries, this will prolong the life of them.

Installation of the Platinum Curve batteries
It is recommended by the stairlift company that you call an engineer out to change them. If you have done this before you will be aware at how expensive that can be, even before any work has actually been done. However Installation of these batteries is fairly straight forward and changing them yourself is not difficult as no special tools are needed, perhaps just a screwdriver. The whole process should take you no longer than thirty minutes if it’s your first attempt.
