They can be safely mounted on their side (which is often the case in a portable sprayer) without fear of spillage due to the absorbed glass mat technology or AGM. They need no maintenance after installation except to be kept charged. Try not to allow the battery to discharge too far, in an ideal world, if you can maintain at least 20% of the charge in it at all times, the battery will last much longer than deep cycling down too far, so charge after every use and every eight weeks if not being used.
You might also want to consider a 9ah battery, it has the same physical dimensions and depending on your requirements could be a very easy upgrade, this extra 2 amps is the energy storage of the battery so it will run longer between charges. This can be selected on the easy upgrade section.
