Replacement Dell J727N 2700R/T HV battery pack: rechargeable sealed lead-acid batteries for this 2700 Watt UPS system; also fits the H945N and K802N.

The Dell J727N 2700 R/T is a 2700W 230V HV UPS system. It measures 438 x 127 x 541mm, is 3U high, and is suitable for 19-inch racks where you will normally find it, though it can also be in a tower configuration. This battery will also fit the 2700 R/T 100v LV K802N and the HV-US 208v H945N.

You may also have an extended battery module (EBM) attached to your UPS, typically a 2U K811N. If you need to change your batteries, please do so at the same time. A link to the separate battery pack is below.

Installing new batteries is a relatively easy task. Once you clip off the front panel, you'll see the metal battery door. A thumb screw secures it; undo this, slide the door to the right, then open it. You'll then be able to see the battery tray. We suggest taking a picture of the wiring with your smartphone. This gives you something to refer to if anything is disturbed; swap one battery at a time so you don't make a mistake, and refer to your manual for full instructions.

Expected battery life in such an installation is between 2-5 years. Batteries should be changed at least every 5 years. The lifespan can be affected by several factors: running too hot because of lack of ventilation. Keep the communications room cool. Dust can also block the vents and build up on the fans, making them less efficient; use a vacuum to keep the outside of the box clean. Another reason is an overdue load; the network will grow over time, requiring more energy.

The batteries are valve-regulated sealed lead-acid (VRLA); they will not leak and can be mounted on the side, making them suitable for both tower- and rack-mountable configurations. They are AGM (absorbed glass mat), recyclable, and primarily lead-based, making them an environmentally friendly way to store energy for your uninterruptible power supply.
