The Dell K811N is a extended battery module or EBM that would be linked to a UPS to offer a longer runtime in power failure events, this is often found combined to the Dell J727N, K802N and H945N UPS systems if you need to change the battery in your UPS and have a EBM attached then you should change all of the batteries. It has a rack height of 2U and a physical size of 438 x 84.5 x 593mm, most often seen in 19 inch racks but can also be used in a tower configuration.
The batteries are valve regulated sealed lead acid combined with absorbed glass mat technology, this means that they will not leak and can be mounted on the side, they are not-hazardous so safe for mission critical environments, they can be used in both tower and rack mount configurations.
