This offer is for a set of batteries for Eaton Powerware PW9120 series UPS systems with an extended battery module (or multiple modules). These batteries provide extra energy to the uninterruptible power supply. This particular pack is for the 1500VA 48Vdc system. Fitting the batteries is quite an easy task to do yourself; you can refer to your manual for the procedure. Once you have fitted them, the system will want to charge the batteries fully. Even though they will come to you almost charged, it will still want to complete the task. With this in mind, the system will be unable to provide full runtime protection while it is doing this. It's best to do this initial charge without any load. We know this may not be convenient in many installations, but it's the best advice we have.

In this kind of device, you would expect the batteries to last between two and five years, though that can vary based on storage and use. Using the system as part of office furniture isn't ideal; it needs ventilation. The batteries get very hot when they work hard 24 hours a day; the more heat, the shorter their life. Keeping the load low will extend the lifespan. In an ideal world, they should stay below 40%; too often, they are run to the edge of their capabilities, which reduces lifespan.

The cells are absorbed glass mat, or AGM; they are also valve-regulated sealed lead-acid, or VRLA. This is the recommended battery type for this installation. They will not leak if mounted on the side, so they are safe for tower- or rack-mountable configurations, with no risk of spillage in mission-critical applications or the home office.
