Drive DeVilbiss is a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles such as mobility scooters and power-chairs. The Cobalt is a lightweight and compact chair which is simple and easy to use thanks to its programmable controller. It is also highly transportable being able to split into three sections for easy handling and storage when not in use.
The original batteries that come with the scooter would most likely be 20 or 21 ampere however we are offering 22Ah in the same physical size which means the battery will last a little longer in between charges. However more importantly there will be more charge left in the battery after use as the more you discharge the battery the more damage that can occur.

Installation of these batteries are simple, they are stored underneath the seat. There are no special tools required for this, just a screwdriver and some patience. How to charge and maintain Drive DeVilbiss Cobalt scooter batteries?
There are many myths surrounding battery charging, and depending on whom you ask, you will be told a different storey, but if you follow a few simple rules, you should be able to keep them in good condition. To begin, despite the fact that our batteries are stored delivered in a more or less fully charged state, you should charge until full before first use, this may only take a few minutes. More importantly, never leave the battery discharged; charge as soon as possible after each use until full, and never let the battery completely drain. Although power chairs are many people's lifelines to the outside world, there may come a time when they are put in storage or not used for a while; if this is the case, charge your batteries every 4/5 weeks to slow down the natural discharge rate that all rechargeable batteries have.
Recycling Drive DeVilbiss Cobalt batteries
These batteries are sealed lead AGM and can be mounted on their side, making them (and your old ones) environmentally friendly and recyclable. When they reach the end of their useful life, please take them to your local recycling centre so that they can be transformed into something new and continue on their green journey.
