This pack contains two vale regulated sealed lead or VRLA acid batteries, they are the recommended type of cells as they will not leak even if mounted on the side and safe for use in mission critical installations in both tower and rack orientations.

Even though your UPS might have intelligent recognise of new batteries we have found that the best way is to run the system without any load to start at least until the new batteries are fully charged, longer if you can afford the time, that is to power down computers and the such that it is protecting, this from experience is the best way to condition and initialise the cells to its new life and seems to pay dividends in overall life span.
