The 8G4D manufactured by MK / Deka / East Penn in the USA is a deep cycle GEL cell which means that inside battery is an electrolyte that is suspended in a silica gellified solution therefore it is not-hazardous, non-spill-able, vibration resistant and require no maintenance expect for a healthy charging regime.

If this battery is being fitted to something with its own charging source like a UPS or solar panel array then the system will take care of the charging the user needs to charge then please fully charge the battery upon receipt and charge after every use, never leave in a discharged state as this can do damage. If a period of six weeks or so goes by without use then give it a top up charge, something else to take note of is that as with any GEL battery it has run-in period where the initial performance will improve over the first 20-25 cycles.
