Even though the batteries you receive from us will be almost fully charged you should still need to complete a full charge before first use, you would not have to do this if it was going in something like a UPS or alarm system as this has its own charging circuit and it will do the job for you, the charger will have LED lights which will indicate whether it is still charging or not, you only need to charge them until they are ready, it probably will not take very long, you may well be impatient enough just to fit and use the equipment without charging but it's well worth waiting until its fully charged and will help extend overall life expectancy
