After you have unpacked your new battery order from us you will note that they will have a good charge in them, regardless of this you should still complete a full charge before first use, however if it's a battery backup for something that's always connected to the mains like a monitor or maybe a alarm system then you do not need to charge it first as the system will do that for you, you do not need to leave it on for hours on end, it will probably not take very long at all depending on the charger, just until the charger has indicated that it has finished, make sure you do not miss the initial charge (unless as stated above), doing so may well reduce overall life expectancy
