The batteries will be delivered with a very good charge in them, but even so you should still charge before using for the first time, if the battery is being fitted in something like an alarm system then you can miss this step as it will do a better job of charging it than you, it shouldn't take long, just until the charger lights indicates its ready, if really in doubt overnight will be more than enough but it's doubtful you would need to leave it on the charger that long, do not miss out this important first step, it will help set them up and possibly extend the possible overall life expectancy of them
