When your order is delivered to you your new batteries will be almost fully charged, but regardless of this you should still complete a charge them before first use, the only time you do not need to do this is if it's going into something with its own always connected power supply, for example a alarm system, as this will do the job of charging for you, the charge time will depend on your charger, just leave it on until it indicates its finished, do not miss out this important first step, it will help set them up and possibly extend the possible overall life expectancy of them
While is not something that most will even notice but it will take a number of charges and corresponding use in the device before a full capacity charge is reached, this is a normal part of the conditioning process, when you have used your portable devices then put the batteries back on charge, you do not want to allow them to sit in a partially discharged state, we have heard of people trying to extend battery life by running them down, fully discharging your new batteries will only reduce the overall life span and they will need changing earlier, this will cost you money in the long run, there may well be extended periods where the batteries are not being actively used, if so ensure they are charged fully beforehand and then recharged every 4 to 6-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours at a time
These batteries will require no general maintenance, no topping up with fluid as it has none, they are AGM and VRLA, of course with deep cycle properties that would be required in this type of application, they are also not-hazardous so safe to use in the home or in portable devices
