When you placed and received your order of batteries from us they will have a fairly high charge in them, but you still need to instigate a full charge before first use, if the battery is being fitted in something with its own built in always connected mains supply like an alarm system then you can miss this step as it will do a better job of charging it than you, your charger will indicate to you when it has completed this first charge, it will probably not take very long depending on the charger, the light will generally change to indicate its ready, this first step is important so please do ignore it, unless of course as otherwise stated above, do not use without this initial charge, doing so can shorten expected life span
You probably will not notice but if you are using in a piece of equipment that requires outside intervention for charging that it will take up to ten charges and associated use in your device before the batteries are capable of taking a few capacity charge, this is normal, if being used in a portable device then you should make sure that after every use that you put the batteries back on charge, letting them sit in a partially discharged state is not wise, do not try to attempt to fully discharge the batteries, it will not rejuvenate them, in fact the opposite, it will reduce the lifespan and cost you money in the long run, if for any reason you are not using them for long periods then you should recharge every 4 to 6-weeks but do not leave on the charger for more than 24-hours at a time
These are 6-volt valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries and will not leak, sealed lead acid, the acid is held within a glass mattering and will not leak, no maintenance is required, they are both AGM and VRLA, of course they are the required deep cycle kind and they are not-hazardous so safe for use in portable equipment, medical and indoors
